Welcome to Pennyroyal Garland Dancers

PENNYROYAL GARLAND DANCERS are a group of enthusiastic folk dancers based in north-west Leicestershire.

We currently perform two main styles of dance, GARLAND and CLOG dances.

As there is not really a traditional folk costume in England (unlike the national dress in Scotland and Wales) we have developed our own outfit of a red blouse and a blue pinafore dress.

For garland dancing we wear red tap shoes. Many traditional dancers wear bells but PENNYROYAL think the sound of our feet (emphasised by the taps on our shoes) is better accompaniment for our style of dancing than the bells worn by Morris dancers.
